Radhastami experience As I drove to work tonight, I thought, "Oh, no... I won't get off in time to see Radharani's feet!!" I called my father, asking him to please bring his camera when he stopped off before going to his job. "No film" was his answer. I called a friend and she said she would take photos with her digicam. Nevertheless, all evening I worried.
I ended work for the night and drove over, hoping... I could still hear the kirtan as I drove up. After changing, I walked down the hill and to my great happiness, the curtains were still open. I caught the end of the abhisekha and Gaura Vani dasa's bhajanas. He is one of the singing maestros of Iskcon, no joke.
The Deities each wore a different color with matching Rajastani-style silver trim. Very elegant.
Rukmini mataji (the original) gave a sweet class on Srimati Radharani; Her appearance, sweetness and potency of Her name, qualities, etc... Her classes make one want to hear more and dive in deeper.
In Washington DC, we include a transcendental quiz on the big festival days. Some questions are easy, others head-scratchingly difficult. Always a good time.
The whole time, the curtains remained open. During the few announcements before prasad, many devotees crowded around close to the altar, seeking and savoring a few more minutes of Her lotus toes. Rare indeed...
A well-cooked feast was enjoyed by all.
